Rochdale Ladies Reserves V Lancaster City Ladies
Match three and another home game
For the opening 8 or 9 minutes the game ebbed and flowed with Dale having the better openings. On 10 minutes Laura Faux beat the offside trap and shoot from the edge of the box to open the scoring. Dale were now beginning to take command and most of the play was in the oppositions half. Dale won a third corner on the 22nd minute mark, a fine cross from Sophie McCall fell to Nat Metcalf who netted comfortably. Geo Farrelley dogged by injury was forced to leave the game and was substituted by Becky Leonard and U-18’s player making her debut at open age level. Dale were now well on top and the pressure told as Steph Bell making her debut for the reserves shot powerfully from the edge of the penalty area to make it 3 – 0. Sophie McCall made it 4 after chasing down a loose ball and nicking it off the Lancasterkeeper to score from a very acute angle.
Half time Dale 4 v 0 Lancaster City Ladies
Dale introduce yet another debutant Paris Welsh, another player promoted from the U-18’s. Lancaster kicked off the second half and Dale immediately won passion. With the half just 2 minutes old the ball was worked to the right flank and Cheryl Kelsall beat several defenders to cross for Laura Faux to claim her second goal. With 20 minutes gone Faux again beat the offside trap to run onto a glorious through ball from Siobhan McElhinney to complete her hat trick. Dale went to sleep for the next 20 minutes or so not really creating much but not conceding much either. The back four marshalled by Lyndsey Burtonwood didn’t put a foot wrong and keeper Naomi Entwistle was a virtual bystander. At last Dale kicked into gear again and went on the rampage with gaols from Steph Bell, Sophie McCall and Faux added to her tally with her 4thof the game in the dying minutes.

Rochdale Ladies Reserves V Blackpool Wren Rovers Reserves
The Reserves second game of the season saw them at home again. With a much changed side and no substitutes they approached the game cautiously.
It was a slow start and soon became apparent just how one sided this game was becoming. Dale had to wait until the 39 minute though before they opened the scoring. A speculative shot from distance from Siobhan McElhinney deceived the Blackpool keeper and found its way into the bottom right hand corner of the goal. The second goal followed in the next attack. Good work in mid-field won the ball from the restart and Laura Faux netted with consummate ease.
Half time 2 – 0 to Dale
The second half began in much the same way with Dale making all the play. Sophie McCall playing her first game for the reserves was having a field day on the left flank, skilful and able to outpace her defender she created many chances for herself and her team mates and it wasn’t long before Dales pressure paid off and as Laura Faux claimed her second of the game, some tricky footwork as she beat the defence and shot hard and low to beat the Blackpool keeper, Sophie McCall got her just desserts for her hard work and made it 4 – 0 mid way through the half, Natalie Metcalf and Lizzie Hamer completed the route before Blackpool got a goal back late on.

Rochdale Ladies Reserves V Central Lancashire WFC
Rochdale Ladies Reserves kicked off their season in style with an emphatic win over last season division 2 champions.
In a game that started slowly Dale were on top from the kick off but had to wait till the 21st minute before they opened the scoring a corner for Dale and Nat Metcalf scored with a flick inside the six yard box, the second goal came on 25 minutes again it was Nat Metcalf who shot from just inside the penalty box leaving the keeper with no chance. Laura Faux came on as sub on the half hour and scored with almost her 1st kick of the game
Half time 3 – 0 to Dale
The second half saw Dale really turn on the style and it wasn’t long before Lauren Brierley claimed her fist goal of a well taken hat trick. Siobhan McElhinney scored a rare header from a loose ball on the edge of the 6 yard box. A great piece of football and vision from Siobhan McElhinney saw Holly Newman run on to a defence splitting pass and shoot under the advancing keeper to make it 8. A late goal and a lapse in concentration allowed Central Lancs to sneak a goal back a shot from distance which caught out Dale keeper Naomi Entwiste.
